October 10-11, 2024 Creative Placemaking Summit 10
2024's Creative Placemaking Summit was a beautiful reminder of our vibrant alive on a rainy day in REO Town, Lansing, MI. The schedule provided opportunities to learn and move around the community to hear from those adding to our cultural landscape.
Months before we actually met for the Summit, local Placemakers came together to talk about what is important to consider in placemaking and what kind of projects do we want to promote at the I Am A Placemaker event.
Informed by this information, the two-day event was built. Summit-goers attended one of two tracks for the day. There were local and national speakers as well as Michiganders from across the state. Each presentation asked what projects we can envision in Greater Lansing and how we bring them to life.
After a day of learning, attendees were invited to a private pre-premier screening of "The Place Man" and "The King's Gambit" for the last event in the former Lansing Public Media Center (R.I.P.).
Finally, creative placemaking was alive and happening in Old Town, Lansing for the last day of the Summit. Arts Night Out is an event of the Arts Council of Greater Lansing that brings together artists, local business and provides a free night out for families, friends and more! Attendees gathered to walk the community event and network with fellow placemakers.
