October 3-7, 2022 Creative Placemaking Summit 8: A Retrospective
2022's Summit returned to in-person sessions, taking place across five days and six venues in Lansing, MI. The new schedule and locations provided an opportunity for reflection. What do residents think about local creative placemaking work? How has the pandemic impacted our communities? How should placemaking change moving forward?
Summit-goers explored these questions by attending two artist panel discussions, a community input session about The Ovation concert venue, Ruby Lopez Harper's keynote on the language of community post-2020, and Heather Pontonio's presentation on the Artists Thrive initiative: a set of resources helping communities foster conditions in which artists can thrive.
City of Lansing Arts Impact Projects took center stage on Monday's session, at which the Shiawassee Street Mosaic Project was unveiled, and Arts Impact artists past and present gathered for a roundtable discussion about public art in the Capital Region. Learn more about these projects below.
